Ms. Smith's Class A Frog Dissection

Now that you have completed the frog dissection, reflect on what you learned. What did you find interesting? Did anything surprise you? What did you learn? What more would you like to know about the frog or body systems?

I found the bee in the stomach interresting.I learned that frogs are similar to humans in many ways.
Nothing suprised me I knew what to expect.Do frogs have any different organs than humans.

well after the dissection i learned that the inside of a frog
is very disgusting and i never want to do it again.

Makenzie :D (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:33 AM

After the dissection we only had four people leave and that was good. But not me I wanted to do this. It was a fun lab for anyone to try and see if they can do it. I know thaty some schools wont do this but just a hint for any other poeple I learned alot about our body and the frogs body. This is not as bad as you think it would be. Only thing you do it pull out the body parts and look at what it does for his body. I have alot more to say but thats all I have time for! BYE :D

We've leared alot, even though it was gross. We actually saw a liver, stomach and much more. A intresting thin about a frog is when you cut its eyeball out its hard, also its tounge is attached in the front and flips out in the back and its also a muscle so it can stretch it to. I didnt learn much more about the human body systems exept about the size sahap and texture.

Kayleigh T (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:35 AM

Even though I did not do the frog dissection, I have learned alot about frogs and how they differ from hummans.
They arent the same but they are different in some ways. I found something really interesting. I found out that
people have different opinions on the frog dissection as in if the frogs should or should not be dissected. It surprised
me on how many people wanted to do the frog dissection and was willing to do it. I also learned that people have different
fealings about the way frogs should be treated. If there is anything else I would like to learn about this experiment is why
we have to do such things to the frogs? And if we are different in that certain way (frogs and humans) then how are dogs and
humans any different?

now that ive done the nasty lab , ewwww, ive learned some interesting facts. ive learned their are
fatbodys are yellow, and everything else was pretty bran(brown). when there dead they are really
stiff. there tounge comes like completly out, the skin is very thin and slimy.
you can tell if its a boy or a girl. a girl just carrys around eggs, but not prego, she releases her
eggs and the male comes around and fertillizes. the stomach is always fun to cut open in a lab
because you never no what they have been eating. the eat all kinds of bugs, worms, flies,.

What I found most interesting about th frog dissetion is that I thought it was gona be gross but then i got use to it.
What most suprised me was that the frog was smaller then I thought ,I thought the frog was gona be bigger.
I learned that most animals have similar organs, like humans and frogs.
The body systems needs like all the systems working together and if 1 was lost then ur body woulb be insanely unbalanced.

Kayley T. (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:37 AM

What I found interesting is that I got to see what the systems looked like being so close. The heart
did because it has 3 sections in the frog heart and in the human heart is has 4. I learned that the
frog and the human are much alike. I don`t need to learn anything else.

It was really funn. i was partners with my friend Makenzie. We dugg all the guts out. i cut the tougue out and then gave it to makenzie. our frog was a boy because ours didnt have any egggs in it. my teachers had eggs in her so that means hers was a girl. the frogs were really hard. when i opened his mouth there were like tubes in his mouth. our tougues are not like there. the frogs tougues can flip out. ours is attached in the back and theres are atttched in the front. 4 people got sick and had to leace the lab. It smelled like vinger at first but i got ust of the smell. all they had in the stomach were organs. it waqs really cool. i would like doing a snake or a dead dog.

kerigan a (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:37 AM

Now that we finshed the frog dissection, I thought it was going to be nasty but it was not that bad.
It was interesting to see how the human body and the frog body were different and alike. The thing
that surprised me was that the frog body was a little diferent and a little alike to the human body.
I would like to learn if all the frogs bodys are the same or different:):)!!!

I found this lab very interesting,I found a few things surprising,it wasnt our frog that had the food
the people beside us had bugs in their frogs stomach our frog was small and did not have anything in
the stomach. I learned what all of the organs in the body look like, liver, heart, fat body, stomach,
small intestines, large intestine, and the muscles,i also learned the function of the organs. I would
have liked to see more of the frogs body and system like the brain.

MyeshiaD (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:38 AM

It was a very good thing to see.We learned a lot more then what we had already know.I learned that
a male and a female frog does not have to mate to have their young. The female frog drops the eggs
in the water and the male comes by and feartlize the eggs. The frog are a lot like use.The have almost ever
body part we have. I have learned a lot doreing this.

.:†AshtonB†:. (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 8:46 AM

I've learned that a frogs body system is alot smaller, and a lil' bit different from ours. Also a
frog's reproductive system is alot different from ours espiecally the females. The fat bodys in the
frog's body was really difficult to cut off of the the other systems...the were really aggrivating
"hehehe". Also what really surpirsed me was that how tough there muscular system was. Amazingly...
the frog's leg muscles, (when I tore them open), looked like they were cooked. the part that I kinda
hated is that they had no blood..., but in all of this I have had an ivigerating experience and have
learned alot. Its was very cool and fun I hope to disect a human one day...

Austin H (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 9:01 AM

The thing i found that was cool was a half eaten beetle in the stomach four people had to leave the lab.I learned that the froggs body is different than are in different ways.I also found a sac that we thought was a egg sac

Jesica C. (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 9:02 AM

I learned what all the systems look like. They are so cool. The thing I found interesting
was that a bug was in the frogs stomact. Also frogs are interesting because they have a system
just like us but just a little smaller!! The dissection wasnt as gross as everyone was making
it out to be. The frog dissection was a very fun sicenc lab. There really isnt anymore that i
want to know about frogs. I hope the childern next year have as much fun as i did.

I have learned about the frogs organs and that the frog can jump 20 times its lenght.
I found intrsting that the frogs eye is hard.Im suprised we only had 4 people leave the class.
I learned that that a frog has 2 layers of skin.
I would like to know how for the frogs tounge stretches and how it stretches.

Destiny D. (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 9:03 AM

I wasnt here! I do not know how the expierement went. :( But i can take a pretty good guess, i know you
cut the stomach open and pin it, and then one by one you pick out the organs and the fat bodies were yellow,
and the rest were pretty much brown, and you had to guess what they do! I know that we used the scapel, sissors
, goggles, aprons, gloves, tray, pins, forceps, and probs. I also know the blatter holds all the waste!
Thats all i know!

Samantha R (unauthenticated)Apr 3, 2009 9:17 AM

I have learned that the frog dissection was very helpful with the human body.
Even though it wasn't a human the frogs organs like the heart, lungs, etc.
You got to see what it was like inside the frogs body.
Even though I had to leave the lab it still was a good experience after all.
I would also encourge pepole to try this because some of the other classmates liked it
very much.
