Ms. Hughes's 2nd grade class had a special guest reader on Veteran's Day. Kelly's dad is serving in the military in Afghanistan. Our media specialist, Mrs. Catalano, made great efforts to arrange a Skype call with him, but when the time arrived, the connection in Afghanistan wasn't working. A substitute plan was quickly crafted, and Ms. Hughes held up the book as he read it over a cell phone. We used a microphone to enhance the sound, and it was a meaningful experience for both the students and adults in the room. WLTX aired a great news story about the event.
